We’ve answered the questions we hear most often. If you don’t see yours here, just call us — we’re
happy to talk it through.
Instead of you traveling to a clinic and waiting your turn, your physical therapist comes directly to you — in your home, your community, or wherever your life happens. Every session is one-on-one, unhurried, and focused entirely on you.
This model eliminates transportation challenges, long wait times, and rushed visits, allowing for comprehensive evaluations, extended treatment sessions, and real-world functional training that leads to better outcomes.
Home health physical therapy is a medically regulated service provided under strict insurance guidelines. It is typically limited to individuals who are considered homebound and requires physician oversight, rigid documentation, and visit limitations.
Our mobile outpatient model is not home health. It offers:
● Flexible scheduling
● Extended one-on-one sessions
● No homebound requirement
● No insurance-driven visit caps
● Personalized, holistic treatment
You’re probably not someone who thinks of yourself as a ‘patient.’ You’re an active adult who used to move without thinking about it — until something changed. Maybe it was a diagnosis. Maybe it was a surgery that didn’t fully resolve. Maybe you’ve just noticed over the past year or two that your body isn’t responding the way it used to, and it’s starting to limit the things you care about. That’s exactly who we work with. We specialize in adults 45+ who are done accepting ‘this is just part of getting older’ and are ready to actually solve the problem. Specifically, we work with adults dealing with:
● Parkinson’s disease
● Stroke recovery
● Multiple sclerosis (MS)
● Neuropathy
● Balance and vestibular disorders
● Gait instability
● Post-surgical recovery
● Chronic pain and stiffness
● Fall risk
● General mobility decline
● Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions through a neuro-informed lens
We also provide preventative wellness and maintenance programs designed to support aging in place,
long-term independence, and optimal movement health.
We provide mobile physical therapy throughout the Greater Charlotte area, with a focus on
South Charlotte and surrounding communities.
Service Areas commonly served include:
● South Charlotte
● Ballantyne
● Matthews
● Weddington
● Waxhaw
● Marvin
Appointments outside these areas may be available upon request.
North Carolina is a direct access state, meaning you do not need a physician referral to begin physical therapy. However, some insurance plans may require a referral for self-submission reimbursement purposes. We are happy to coordinate with your provider when needed.
We’re a private-pay practice, which means we don’t bill your insurance directly. We know that’s not the answer everyone hopes for — so here’s the honest explanation of why we operate this way, and what it means for you.
When a practice takes insurance, the insurer controls your care — how many visits you get, how long each session lasts, and when treatment ends. We built this practice to remove those limits entirely. Every decision about your care is made by you and your therapist, based on what you actually need.
What this means practically:
• Full hour sessions — not 20–30 minutes of actual hands-on time
• The same therapist every visit — no handoffs, no aides
• A care plan based on your goals — not what your insurance will approve
• Transparent pricing with no surprise bills
And your insurance may still help: If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed 40–70% of your costs. We provide a superbill after each visit that you can submit directly to your carrier. Call us and we’ll help you with any further clarifications.
Yes — and many of our patients with PPO plans receive 40–70% reimbursement. We provide a detailed superbill that you can submit directly to your insurance carrier. We’re happy to walk you through the process on your first call. Reimbursement varies by plan, so we recommend calling your insurance’s member services line to check your out-of-network benefits before your first visit.
We don’t bill Medicare for skilled physical therapy services. However, if you are a Medicare beneficiary and want to continue working with us for wellness, maintenance, or non-covered services, you absolutely can — on a private-pay basis. These services fall outside Medicare guidelines by design, which means no caps on visits and no restrictions on your progress.
Because nobody is telling us how many visits you’re allowed or when your progress should stop — every decision is made by you and your therapist based on what you actually need. Most patients find they get better results in fewer total visits, direct access to their provider and no surprise bills. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
• Faster progress toward your specific goals
• Full-hour sessions — not 20 minutes of actual hands-on time
• The same therapist every visit — no handoffs, no aides
• No insurance restrictions, no surprise billing
• Direct access to your provider between visits
• Better long-term results
That’s a fair question and we’d rather answer it directly than avoid it.
The honest answer is: it depends on what you compare it to. If you’re comparing us to a $30 copay at an in-network clinic, the per-visit cost is higher. But if you compare total cost to get a real result — accounting for the number of visits, the time you spend, and whether the problem actually gets solved — many of our patients find the difference is smaller than they expected.
Here’s what we can commit to: we’ll tell you exactly what a complete plan of care looks like at your first visit. We won’t keep you coming indefinitely. And if we don’t think we’re the right fit for your situation, we’ll tell you that too.
Your first visit typically runs 60–75 minutes — long enough to truly understand what’s going on with your body and build a plan that actually addresses it. Follow-up sessions range from 45–60 minutes. You will never be rushed out the door.
Visit frequency is determined by your diagnosis, goals, functional needs, and lifestyle. Treatment plans may range from multiple weekly visits during active rehabilitation to weekly, biweekly, or monthly maintenance sessions.
Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation — not a rushed intake. Here’s what to expect:
• We start by listening. You’ll tell us what’s going on, what you’ve tried, and what you want to get
back to.
• Your therapist will assess your movement, strength, balance, and neurological function in the
environment where you actually live and move.
• By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear, specific plan — including how many visits we expect
it will take and what progress should look like.
• You’ll leave knowing exactly what’s next. No vague “we’ll see how it goes.”
We bring everything we need for a full, professional therapy session — including a treatment table if necessary, assessment tools, therapeutic equipment, and any specialized devices needed for your treatment plan. You don’t need to have any equipment at home. The only thing we need is enough space to work safely with you.
Yes — neurological rehabilitation is our primary specialty. We work with adults dealing with stroke recovery, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis, neuropathy, Guillain-Barré syndrome, spinal cord injury, balance and vestibular disorders, and complex gait dysfunction.
Neurological rehab requires a different level of expertise than standard orthopedic PT — it demands a deep understanding of how the nervous system drives movement, and the patience to work at the pace each patient’s nervous system allows. This is where we specialize.
Your nervous system controls everything — movement, balance, pain perception, and even your body’s ability to heal. When the nervous system is dysregulated (overactivated, underactivated, or stuck in a stress response), it affects how you move, how you feel, and how well you recover from injury or illness.
We incorporate nervous system regulation principles into our treatment because addressing only muscles and joints — without considering the nervous system driving them — often leads to incomplete recovery. This is why patients who’ve plateaued elsewhere often make real progress with us.
Recovery isn’t just physical — it’s deeply tied to mindset, confidence, and how you relate to your body. Research in neuroplasticity shows that positive reinforcement, intentional focus, and mental engagement accelerate motor learning and functional recovery.
We incorporate mindfulness and guided affirmations not as an add-on, but as clinically supported tools that help your nervous system and body work together more effectively. Many patients find this aspect of care to be unexpectedly powerful.
Our wellness programs are clinician-guided movement and health programs designed for adults who want to maintain their
gains after rehab, prevent future decline, or simply invest in staying strong and capable as they age.
They are not gym programs. They are evidence-informed, personalized programs designed by a licensed physical therapist
and delivered one-on-one in your environment. Programs include fall prevention and balance mastery, strength and
longevity training, gait and mobility optimization, neurological wellness, and posture and movement coaching.
Yes. Once you complete your plan of care, you don’t have to lose what you’ve worked for. Our maintenance programs are designed to help you preserve your gains, keep progressing, and stay ahead of decline — on your schedule, without insurance restrictions. Many of our long-term clients consider this the most valuable part of their care.
Yes — and in many ways, mobile therapy is safer than clinic-based care. Practicing movements inyour actual environment means your therapist can identify real hazards, adapt to how you actually live, and train you in the specific conditions where you need to be confident. There’s no unfamiliar equipment, no busy clinic floor, and no travel risk.
Yes. Eno Ekwere Gordon, PT is a fully licensed physical therapist in the state of North Carolina with over 20 years of clinical experience. The Nerve to Heal Rehabilitation carries full professional liability insurance. You are in safe, qualified, accountable hands.
Absolutely — and we encourage it. When family members or caregivers understand what’s being worked on and why, they can reinforce progress between sessions, support home exercise programs, and feel confident assisting their loved one safely. We welcome their participation in sessions whenever it’s appropriate and desired.
